Eric Barapp - SCAM ALERT, BEWARE
We wanted to create this blog to bring attention to a Law Firm, Barapp Law in Toronto, Edmonton as well as places in the US and specifically the founding partner Eric Barapp; specifically the managing partner that runs the firm (Eric Barapp) so that others are able to avoid working with them in the future.
Before I share our experience with Eric Barapp, I just wanted to point out something that came to my attention before I wrote this.
You can look around on other Lawyer Review sites like LawyerRatingz and see other complaints about how they practice, below are a few examples:
"Lorne Weinstock was nothing like we read he would be. He was so obnoxious and angry and not very receptive to our concerns. He made us feel like fools for asking anything, and he was just so angry. He may have passed the test on paper, but he didn't pass the test with people. Needless to say, we won't be back" |
This review was posted by a client of Barapp in March of 2019 at the following link:

Here's another case of a very dissatisfied client of Eric Barapp's:
This bunch belongs in the gulag!Eric Barapp and his henchman Lorne Weinstock are both terrible, unprofessional and unethical lawyers. ...BEWARE! |
Beware the client of theirs warns, this review was posted towards the end of 2018.
The guy is so stupid. His law firm is a laughing stock. Everyone is incompetent. He gives a bad name to all the good lawyers. I hope he's reported. |
What happened?
TL;DR: Eric Barapp and his firm Barapp Law ran up a bill over over $5,000 (of a small startup no less) and decided to not pay his bill, running over anyone in his tracks that is an inconvenience.
We are a marketing firm that works with many lawyers, and law firms, to help drive new clients (lead-gen) to their firms in exchange for a fee.
We were introduced to Eric through a mutual friend, and he seemed quite excited and committed to get started working with us.
Whenever we have a warm referral from someone, we're normally comfortable beginning campaigns without credit card information on file, and usually it's no issue to settle a bill.
In this instance, after we had spent over $5,000 in marketing expenses (as well as a substantial amount of time) working on marketing for his law firm, and driving over 20 new client leads to his business, he asked us to pause the campaign because he "didn't have time to close on the new business".
Eric promised that we would be promptly paid for the work done, and then led us on for the 2.5 months following this claiming that he would get around to reviewing our invoice and paying the bill. After hundreds of emails, calls, voicemails, calls to his office, calls to his firm, cell phone and more, he completely went dark and decided to start ignoring our requests to be paid for our work.
After doing a few quick searches in Google, I became aware of what looks to be a pattern of largely dissatisfied customers and red flags that led me to realize that Eric looks to be a scammer.
Upon Google searches of the term "Eric Barapp Scammer" I noticed that there was formerly another similar blogsite blog built by what appears to be another victim of Eric's scams, calling out Eric and his firm. This page no longer exists when you click on the link, so I'm not sure how this was resolved or taken down.

We hope that all of these moves catch up to Eric and his firm, and all that we intended to do with this blog post is bring awareness to the fact that if you work with Eric, be sure to protect your interests as you very well might get scammed like we were.
